Board Liaison for Trade & Biotech Team

Bob Bowman, a farmer in DeWitt, Iowa, serves on the Corn Board of the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA), a grower-led trade association with offices in St. Louis and Washington.

 

Bowman works with many generations of his family to operate an innovative farm that produces corn, soybeans and livestock. He is also involved in custom fertilizer application, pesticide and crop spray application, trucking, custom planting and harvesting.

 

As a member of the Corn Board, Bowman serves as the board liaison to the Trade Policy and Biotechnology Action Team and represents NCGA on the board of the Waterways Council, Inc. Bowman has chaired NCGA’s Joint Trade Policy Action Team, and served on the association’s CornPAC Committee, Public Policy Action Team, Farm Bill Task Force and Biotechnology Working Group. The only farmer member of the USDA’s Plant Variety Protection Board, he currently sits on the Executive Board of the U.S. Meat Export Federation.

 

At the state level, Bowman chairs the Iowa Corn Promotion Board’s Export and Grain Trade Committee. He is a past president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association and former county president for the Farm Bureau.

 

Founded in 1957, the National Corn Growers Association represents approximately 35,000 dues-paying corn growers and the interests of more than 300,000 farmers who contribute through corn checkoff programs in their states. NCGA and its 48 affiliated state associations and checkoff organizations work together to help protect and advance corn growers’ interests.
